Abstract

Each game has its own rules on the basis of which the matches are run. The proper conduct of the match and the high level of competition depend to a large extent on the correctness of the decisions that are renewed and the competitors' sense of their fairness and freedom from bias.
The current era is characterized by an increase in the popularity of competitive sports and an increase in their elevation at the global level, as evidenced by the increase in the number of international championships throughout the year. And the increase in the number of countries competing in the Olympic Games, cycle after cycle, and the higher the level of athletes, the more difficult the arbitration, due to the speed and accuracy of the attacks, which led to the many objections by the players and coaches to the arbitration decisions. Hence the need to use the video arbitration technique in the sport of fencing as well as in football.
Video arbitration was used for the first time in fencing in 2005, as this reduced the objections of players and coaches to the referees' decisions, despite the apparent benefit of using this technique, but there were also objections to this technique by players and coaches.
