Abstract

Abstract:
Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the efficacy of transcutaneous Electric diaphragmatic stimulation on lung functions in post mastectomy Women. Methods: thirty post mastectomy women for longer than three months were participated in this study in the period between 20 march and 20 may 2022. They were selected randomly from Deraya University Physical Therapy Center in Elmenia. Their ages were ranged from 45-60 years. They were divided into two groups, the control Group (Group A) they received traditional chest physiotherapy (diaphragmatic breathing &pursed lip breathing& costal breathing) and the study group (Group B) they received transcutaneous Electric diaphragmatic stimulation on lung functions in post mastectomy Women in addition to traditional chest physiotherapy (diaphragmatic breathing &pursed lip breathing& costal breathing). Spirometry was used to lung function (forced expiratory volume FEV & forced expiratory volume / forced vital capacity FEV/FVC) in both groups (A&B) before and after treatment. Results: the finding of this study indicated significant improvement of FEV and FEV/FVC after treatment in both groups values (P value= < 0.00001). there was significant difference between both groups after treatment regarding the FEV (95%CI where p value < 0.00001), and FEV/FVC (95%CI where p value=0.001) with favored result in study group. Conclusion: It can be concluded that transcutaneous electric diaphragmatic Stimulation is an effective adjuvant therapy in improving lung function through increase FEV& FEV/FVC.
