Abstract

Objectives: To summarize the best evidence of the effectiveness of Virtual Reality Therapy for improving motor for gait , motor for hand function , cognition in multiple sclerosis patients.
Methods: Intensive search was done in electronic databases: PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Pedro, We also checked the reference lists. This search was done to include RCTs that compare virtual reality therapy with conventional rehabilitation for patients after multiple sclerosis. Then, the methodological quality of each included trial was assessed, and the data was extracted. Finally, the results were analyzed by pooling the data of change scores between pre-and post-intervention through calculation of the overall standardized mean differences with a 95% confidence interval.
Results: Sixteen studies were included. All of them were about multiple sclerosis. Virtual reality may have not a significant effect on cognition , balance and fatigue . Only seven studies reported on the outcomes of improving motor in gaitand two studies in improving motor hand function who received the intervention duringless thanthree-monthfollow-up evaluation and was significant.
Conclusion: There is an evidence from the included RCTs on the Effectiveness of virtual reality on motor outcomes in patients with multiple sclerosis.
