Abstract

This paper proposes a methodology for applying load reduction (LR) as one technique of DSM techniques to distribution power networks. This methodology uses sensitivity analysis to select the buses on which the load reduction will be performed. Furthermore, changes in hourly system loading are considered, and the impacts of these variations on the system's performance are analyzed. Also, the Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) methodology has been utilized to consider the load uncertainties. The Load Reduction (L R) has been effectively validated on two power distribution networks. The first is the IEEE 33 standard system, while the second is a practical distribution network, which is Shebin El Kom feeder-Menoufia governorate-South Delta Electricity Company. Different indicators are used to assess the enhancement of the network's performance. Simulation results concluded that applying DSM techniques reduced the power taken from the substation, reduced the active power losses, and improved the minimum voltage with the daily loading variation as well as at peak loading.
