The present study aims to examine the special symbolic world of the Mexican playwright Elena Garro (1917- 1998) linked to some essential feminist topics that featured in her extensive theatrical production. From which we can mention three fundamental thematic approaches: the search for a female identity, the oppression of women and the denunciation of patriarchal authority. This causes a great need to interpret what is the value of the different symbols of our playwright, focusing attention on the reciprocal relationship between this symbolic world and the canonical thematic approaches of Garro. The principal objective of this research is to find out this mutual relationship between the special symbols of Garro and the main topics that appeared in her dramaturgy. In addition, how can the scenic symbol reflect and convey the dramatic conflict exposed by the playwright in the montages under study. We intend to achieve our goal by conducting an analytical semiotic study of the different types of symbolism of three magnificent theatrical pieces of his dramatic production: Los pilares de Doña Blanca, Andarse por las ramas and La señora en su balcón.
