Abstract

Good management of records and information is essential for any well-functioning organization, as good management supports business functions, activities, and procedures, and provides a basis for efficient service delivery. It also provides a mechanism for organizations to retain evidence of their decisions and procedures for future reference to support business continuity and manage and address risks. Good records management practice is simply good business practice.



Undoubtedly, standardization occupies a major position in records management. Standards are a tool for monitoring regulatory activities and promoting the effective exchange of knowledge between archival communities at the national and international levels. It is also a means of disseminating technological innovations as well as assessing compliance with generally accepted quality requirements.



This thesis deals with the contribution of the ISO standards series "ISO-MSR 30300 Management Systems for records" in the design, implementation, establishment, maintenance, sustainability, development, and improvement of records management systems, as well as its role in establishing an international standardization system for the basics, methodologies, vocabulary, and practices of records management; The thesis includes the following points:



- The emergence and development of the international standardization system for records management.

Basic principles, terminology, and vocabulary for records management.

- The structure and components of the management system for records (MSR) according to the standard (ISO 30300).

- The contribution of the management systems for records standards series (ISO 30300) in supporting the implementation of modern records systems.
