Abstract

The techniques of seed development, the most important of which is the pollination process, have brought about a fundamental development in the field of producing high-quality seeds, which are characterized by high homogeneity at the genetic, environmental, and phenotypic levels. The results discussed that poor yields and low emergence percentage and seed vigour traits as chronic problems in Egyptian vegetable seed crops. Difficulties in improving the productivity of some crops are often attributed to impaired pollination or seed development. Therefore, this study aimed to improve the understanding of the role of pollination by honey bees on genetic and phenotypic parameters for seed yield and quality in squash. These techniques have imposed a new reality concerning the trade balance of payments between countries, in which the seed trade occupies an important place, which made the researcher required to be familiar with the scientific methodological procedures to improve the plant population and bring them to a state of homogeneity that is close to stability among their individuals in the so-called pre-breeding programs. It could be concluded that the Honeybee pollination with high pollen- load population had clear effects on genetic, environmental and phenotypic parameters. These results are in accordance with the desired pre-breeding objectives, which are concerned with showing the differences between individual plants of the population so that a good selection program can be implemented.
