This study aims to shed light on the Taboot as one of the water-raising devices to irrigate agricultural lands in the nineteenth century in Menoufia, through publishing and studying a new document related to the construction of one of the water-raising devices, which is an indigo coffin in the village of Bahwash in Menoufia in the late nineteenth century (1898 AD), published for the first time. This document is of great importance because it stated in text that in this period there was what was known as the “Taboot" as one of the irrigation machines in the period in which the document is dated, even though this machine was unknown, as the well-known machine that was known to everyone other than specialists was the well-known machine. “Saqyya". This study has clarified, through the analytical study carried out by the researcher of the document in question, the irrigation water distribution system and water raising machines in the nineteenth century, especially the Taboot, its artistic and architectural configuration, its status as a water irrigation device in the Egyptian irrigation law, and the motives behind the peasants' creation of Taboots to irrigate agricultural lands, as well as Types of canals in the delta in the nineteenth century through which water-raising devices were made.
