Abstract

Biometric technology can be employed to control physical access (to specific facilities and locations), logical access (to information systems and networks), and support the identity and access management policies of an organization based on biometric authentication. This technology relies on reliable identification and authentication of people's identity, through specific and unique data of a person's biometric characteristics. In this way, it differs from codes, passwords, and ID cards, which rely on data that can be forgotten or lost. The education sector and its institutions are no exception when it comes to applying biometric technology. Student records in the governmental universities sector as one of the sectors of higher education constitute a vital and necessary part, and an essential element in the education system and the educational process in this sector. Studies have proven that employing biometric technology in managing student data for authentication purposes can provide solutions to the problems of accessing student-related information in traditional ways. Thus, it helps in making sound decisions, realizing a lot of opportunities, and providing answers to detailed inquiries. Especially since most of the challenges of the educational process relate to identifying the student's identity and linking it to the rest of his data. This study seeks to:                                                                                              1-Strengthening the current student documents and data management systems in the work units entrusted with education and student affairs in colleges and institutes of governmental universities, through a more reliable approach using biometric technology .                                2-Develop a vision for the student records management system in these units based on biometric technology, so that student records can be managed efficiently, and their inquiries, and inquiries of education and student affairs staff, easily and conveniently, and the creation of reports and summary details for each student.  Hence, raising work efficiency and improving performance.                                                                                               The researcher relied on the field research method based on description and analysis. She also used the standardized interview and the sampling to collect data from the research community, and she also used the content analysis tool to collect and analyze the scientific material.
