Panax ginseng is known to potentiate the immune system via its antioxidant properties. Royal jelly (RJ) as an antioxidant has been shown to have attenuated oxidative stress damages in reproductive organs. The aim of this work is using ginseng and Royal jelly to ameliorate the toxicity effects of diabetes on reproductive functions of male rats. Forty male albino rats are randomly divided into 5 groups, Control group, Diabetic group, Diabetic + Ginseng (G) group, Diabetic + Royal jelly (RJ) and Diabetic + Ginseng + Royal jelly group. Biochemical estimation of serum sexual hormones (FSH, LH and testosterone) were performed, also semen analysis and testis sections from all groups were processed for histopathological examination. Our results exhibited that treatment with ginseng and Royal jelly caused a significant improvement in all biochemical parameters after streptosotzin (STZ) administration, where hormonal levels in Diabetic + Ginseng, Diabetic + Royal jelly and Diabetic + Ginseng + Royal jelly groups were restored to their normal levels, ginseng and Royal jelly caused a significant increase for concentration of FSH, LH and testosterone although these levels where significantly decreased by STZ in second group. Semen analysis showed an improvement in al sperm parameters (count, motility deformation and morphology) after treatment with ginseng and Royal jelly. Histopathological examination showed that ginseng and Royal jelly can cause a tremendous recovery in the testis architecture after a distortion that caused by STZ. In conclusion ginseng and Royal jelly treatment can diminish the negative effects that caused by administration of STZ.
