Abstract

The persistent connection to the Internet, including social media such as Twitter and Facebook, expands the space for personal expression and forces fragmented writing, concise content and mini-formats. This social practice has contributed to the emergence of so-called flash fiction in digital literature. It is a prose narrative in the form of a very brief, complete and autonomous imaginary story. This study aims to explore the reasons for the flowering of flash fiction with the advent of the Internet, which has become the vector of creation and dissemination of this literary genre. We study how the Web has enabled the development of this form of short and ultra-short literary writing, while identifying its characteristics, values and poeticity. Finally, we examine how this literary genre demonstrates creativity and talent.
