Abstract

Background: Work family conflict is two ways in nature, so that stress in work can lead to consequence of stress into the family domain and vice versa, Which make staff nurses to think about leaving the work Aim:   assess the work- family conflict as a predictor of staff nurses' turnover intention. Design: A descriptive correlational design was used. Setting: this study conducted at Qulyoub specialist hospital which affiliated to secretariat of specialized medical centers.  Subject: 189 staff nurses out of (372). Tools of data collection Work-Family Conflict Multidimensional questionnaire and anticipated turnover scale (ATS). Results:  less than two thirds (65%) of staff nurses had high perception level regarding total work interference family conflict dimensions. Less than three quarters (67.2%) of them had high perception level regarding total family interference work conflict dimensions.70% of staff nurses had high perception level regarding total work family conflict. More than two thirds (72.6%) of staff nurses had high turnover intention. Conclusion: There was highly statistically positive correlation between total of work family conflict and turnover intention among staff nurses. Recommendations: Organizing time schedule between home and work to save time for home responsibilities as well as work responsibilities. Develop strategies to eliminate triggers of negative work environment.
