الملخص:
 تناولت هذه الدراسة بالتحليل الخطاب الدلالي للأنا في رواية شيكاجو، للكاتب المصري علاء الدين الأسواني، وهي رواية ذات طبيعة سردية إشكالية، حيث تعرض سردها لعلاقة الأنا العربية بالآخر الأمريكي، وهي علاقة محورية، كشفت عن خلل في البنية التفكيرية للذات العربية، وعجز في قدرتها عن مواجهة الآخر الأمريكي، وتمثل هذا الخلل والعجز في أربع إشكاليات: الأولى: غواية الآخر: التاريخ والحاضر والمكان والحضارة، بوصفها -جميعا- محددات أنتجت خطاب التفكيك والأزمة للأنا العربية.الثانيـة: تبعية السلطة السياسية العربية للآخر، وجدل وعي الأنا إزاء هذه التبعية.الثالثـة: المرأة العربية وانهزام الذات في شيكاجو.الرابعة: المرأة الأمريكية بين خطاب الواقع ومشروع السرد الدلالي

Abstract
This study analyzed the semantic discourse of the ego in the novel Chicago, by the Egyptian writer Aladdin Al-Aswany, which is a novel of a problematic narrative nature. Confronting the American other, and this imbalance and inability is represented in four problems: the first: the seduction of the other: history, present, place and civilization, as - all - determinants that produced the discourse of deconstruction and crisis of the Arab ego. The second: the subordination of the Arab political authority to the other, and the argument of the ego's awareness regarding this dependence. Third: Arab women and self-defeat in Chicago. Fourth: American women between the discourse of reality and the semantic narrative project
