Abstract

The study Presents data on some chemical parameters associated with primary productivity, as an indicator of water quality in three earthen ponds with the object of determining the effects of these parameters on the growth of Oreochromis niloticus and Cyprinus depending only on natural foods, epiphytes found on some branches in the ponds and the dead leaves provides some detritus. The study also presents some information on the effects of fish stock and water quality on the growth and biochemical composition of species. generally, the water quality was found to be unificatory for rearing and well-growing of both species in a mixed-culture system.  The water quality and stocking rate of fish were found to have marked effects on the specific growth rate and biochemical composition of both species.
