This research mainly aimed to plan an extension program to develop the knowledge of the local leaders in the field of developing field irrigation in the Sidi Salem district in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate. The Sidi Salem district was chosen randomly using the basket method from the district in which field irrigation was developed (Kafr El-Sheikh, Riyadh, Desouq, Sidi Salem, Bella, Qalin, and Al-Hamoul), then the villages in which the field irrigation development project was implemented were identified, reaching 14 villages. The comprehensiveness of this research was represented by all the local leaders in the village, who were identified using the Ikhbaris method, as they amounted to 175 local leaders representing the entirety of the research, and the sample size was determined by the Kerigci&Morgan equation and amounted to 120 respondents, and it was selected by random sample(Basket) of leaders in each village. The research data was collected using 2 questionnaires through a personal interview with the respondents during the month of (June - August) 2023, and several statistical tools were used, such as percentage, frequencies, mean, standard deviation, simple correlation coefficient, multiple correlation coefficient, and partial regression coefficient. And the partial gradient regression coefficient.
The most important results of the search were:
- About 24% of the respondents have low knowledge, about 46% of them have medium knowledge, and 30% of them have high knowledge about the respondents' knowledge in the field of field irrigation development.
- There is a positive, significant correlation at the probability level of 0.01 between the age of the respondent, cultural openness, informal social participation, and information sources, and between the degree of knowledge of the respondents in the field of field irrigation development.
- The results also showed the presence of a positive, significant correlation at the probability level of 0.05 between The degree of leadership and achievement motivation and the degree of knowledge of the respondents in the field of field irrigation development.
- The studied independent variables together explain 32% of the variance in the dependent variable, and the most influential independent variables on the dependent variable are the age of the respondent, the degree of leadership, and sources of information.
- The research developed an extension program to develop the knowledge of the respondents in the field of field irrigation development in the research area that can be applied and benefited from in this field.
