The study identifies the societal impacts resulting from the work of family dispute settlement offices in handling maintenance claims cases in the context of Egyptian families across diverse urban environments. The study uses the case study approach to examine the family dispute settlement offices affiliated with the New Cairo Court through a sample of (10) families (husbands and wives) and (10) social workers from (2) dispute resolution offices. The study showed that social workers play a pivotal role in resolving family disputes, as they provide emotional support, information and guidance to disputing spouses. Disputing spouses face various challenges in resolving maintenance claim disputes, including communication barriers, financial complexities and emotional stress. Cultural norms and societal expectations also affect the dynamics of disputes. However, challenges such as resource constraints and procedural complexities may hinder their effectiveness. Disputes over maintenance claims also have significant social and environmental impacts on families. The study recommended the establishment of mechanisms to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of family dispute resolution services, including tracking outcomes such as client satisfaction, resolution rates, and long-term impacts on family dynamics.
