Abstract

Research goal: The research aimed to identify both the social and psychological effects of those exposed to bullying from the category of people with special needs in the work environment within the government sector. It also aimed to identify the nature of job bullying and its effects within the work environment in the government sector, as bullying in the work environment is considered a relatively modern terminology, especially for people with special needs. This phenomenon is increasing and spreading very quickly in the work environment surrounding us. Therefore, direct observation of this phenomenon is the starting point for researching and describing the problem facing and hindering optimal investment in the work environment.
Methodological procedures for research: The study sample consisted of individuals with special needs who were exposed to bullying within the work environment in the government sector, with a total of one hundred and twenty individuals between males and females. This study was applied to the category of people with special needs within the government sector in the Greater Cairo area. The study used the scientific method through the social survey approach by studying. Descriptive and analytical, given the nature of the study population, the type of work, and the target group of the study using the questionnaire sheet tool.
Research results: The research results revealed some of the negative social effects that individuals with special needs are exposed to after being bullied in the work environment, such as: (a crisis of communication with others, difficulty integrating, loss of mutual respect, and the desire to withdraw), and the results also revealed some of the negative psychological effects that are exposed to, such as: (a crisis of confidence, a feeling of isolation and persecution, a feeling of fear, tension and anxiety, loss of focus, insomnia and depression, loss of control over emotions, a feeling of not belonging and psychological instability). The study also confirmed, through conducting a (Ka2) test between educational qualification and social effects, that the low level of education is the main factor in the feeling of negative social effects for those exposed to bullying from the category of people with special needs within the work environment in the government sector.
Research recommendations: The research recommended increasing legislation that criminalizes bullying in general and people with special needs in particular, activating a hotline to receive complaints from people with special needs and allocating a special section for those exposed to bullying in the work environment, activating a package of training courses within government sectors on how to deal with people with special needs and clarifying their rights and the duties of the work community towards them, and redistributing and restructuring work according to their abilities, each according to the type and degree of disability.
