Abstract

The study aims at the social and educational evaluation of distance education at Ain Shams University for a sample of students in theoretical and practical colleges.The study sample consisted of (374) students from Ain Shams University in some theoretical faculties, namely: (Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Law), and some practical faculties, namely: (Faculty of Science, Medicine, and Engineering). The study reached a set of results, including: The practical colleges outperformed the theoretical colleges in the following dimensions (the effect of distance education on the social relationship between students and teachers, the impact of distance education on the social relationship between students and each other, distance education and its economic effects, the educational dimension, While there are no statistically significant differences between the The study reached several recommendations, the most important of which are: In the context that the distance education policy is an important mechanism that can play a role in strengthening face-to-face education in universities, and achieving continuity in times of crisis, as it allows the possibility of continuous communication between the professor, the student and the university by overcoming the barriers of time and space, and for this Work must be done to support and develop this policy, by developing electronic platforms for universities, training professors to prepare electronic lectures, rethinking some future plans and strategies, within a vision that is compatible with successive developments in technological fields, the need to invest in students' positive attitudes towards using the distance education strategy And work to develop appropriate plans and programs to take advantage of these trends.
