Abstract

Two field experiments were conducted at the experimental farm of Delta Sugar Company at El-Hamoul area in North of Egypt, Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, Egypt during 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 winter seasons, to study the effect of Nano and normal fertilizer on yield and quality of sugar beet, cv. Karam., (Beta vulgaris, L) The experiments were carried out in strip plot design, where the vertical plots were devoted to soil application of fertilizers, while the horizontal plots were assigned to foliar fertilization treatments. The obtained results indicated that fertilized sugar beet plants with 50kgN+green Foliar (20L/fed) as soil fertilization gave the highest relative growth rate (RGR), net assimilation rate (NAR) and crop growth rate (CGR), root length, root fresh weight and, sucrose percentage, root yield /fed, and sugar yield /fed as compared with 100KgN/fed as well as 50kgN+green Foliar(10L/fed) treatments in both seasons. While, the highest purity percentage was found with 50kgN+green Foliar (10L/fed) treatment, on the other hand, applied 100 kg N /fed gave the lowest purity percentage 88.40 and 89.48 % in 2021 and 2021/2022 seasons, respectively. Results exhibited that spraying sugar beet plants with Malty green (2.5L/fed.) +Nano calcium (2.5L/fed.) gave the highest values of all studied traits in both seasons. On the contrary, sprayed sugar beet plants with tap water (control) gave the lowest values of all studied traits in both seasons. RY traits depicted a significant positive correlation with NAR, CGR and SY (p<0.05) in 2020/2021. However, in the second season of 2021/2022, RY showed a significant positive correlation with all the studied traits as RGR, NAR, RL, FW, sucrose %, purity%, and SY, under four foliar fertilizers and three soil fertilizers in both seasons. In conclusion, fertilizing sugar beet plants with 50kgN/fed +Green Foliar (20L/fed) as a soil address and spraying by Malty green (2.5L/fed.) + Nano calcium (2.5L/fed.) treatment to maximizing root and sugar yields of sugar beet plants cv. Karam at El-Hamoul area condition, Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, Egypt.
