Abstract

We conducted this investigation to examine the stability of haloxyfop-P-methyl 10.8% emulsifiable concentrate (EC) formulations obtained from the Egyptian market, produced by two distinct companies, after being exposed to sunlight and stored at 54 ±2 °C for 70 days. We also identified some degradation products after sunlight exposure utilizing GC-MS. The results demonstrated the stability of haloxyfop-P-methyl during 14 days of storage at 54 ±2 °C, and there was a slight effect on the degradation rate by increasing the storage period for two formulations. Haloxyfop-P-methyl was less stable after exposure to sunlight than storage at 54 ±2 °C, and the degradation rate increased with increasing the storage period. The degradation rates of the two haloxyfop-P-methyl formulations were not significantly different from one another. However, haloxyfop-P-methyl from source II exhibited a faster degradation rate and reduced stability upon sunlight exposure compared to the other source. GC-MS analysis of samples post-sunlight exposure revealed four photodegradation products.: haloxyfop-P, methyl 2-[3-(trifluoromethyl)benzofuro[2,3-b] pyridin-6-yl]oxypropanoate, [4-[ [3-chloro-5-(trifluoromethyl)-2-pyridyl]oxy] phenyl]acetate, and 6-ethoxy-3-(trifluoromethyl) benzofuro [2,3-b]pyridine.
