Abstract

The early historical records on Arithmetic's found in
Ahmous papyrus and the contributions of the scholars of the
Old Library in Alexandria in Geometry and Analysis stand
as grand witness of the genuine contributions of those early
days of the Mathematical Sciences in Ancient Egypt. Thanks
to Champollion the French scholar who deciphered the Hieroglyphic alphabet to uncover the early writings of the ancient
Egyptians. During the Mediaeval era the scholars in Dar El
Hekma (house of wisdom played a great role in developing
farther aspects of Geometry, Analysis and Algebra. A vote
of thanks go to Prof. Roshdy Rashid and his colleagues who
unraveled many of the original contributions of this era. It is
to be noted that the French admiration with Egyptology and
the Egyptian culture is incomparable. Consequently, many
different French–Egyptian relationships have developed especially in Science and Culture over the years. In this context
the year 2010 was inaugurated as the France–Egypt Year of
Science and Technology. It came as an excellent opportunity
to strengthen the scientific relations between the researchers
in the two countries.
