Abstract

Art is the mirror of society, reflecting all the changes it is going through. The murals implemented during the Soviet Union period in many cities is distinguished by many features that made it distinct from others. The Soviet Union used the art of murals as propaganda for its ideas and its principles in many buildings, such as schools, hospitals, post offices, and even residential buildings, bus stations, gyms, and many other places, walls were covered with huge mural works. The murals has sparkling colors, which added a lot of joy to Soviet architecture. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, these murals were neglected and were often disposed of, either by covering them with advertisements or demolishing them completely to get rid of any trace of the Soviet Union. However, some murals succeeded in surviving despite the neglect, and sometimes some modifications were made to these murals, such as erasing some slogans or symbols of the Soviet Union. By studying and analyzing these murals, we can trace the changes that have occurred and still occurring in those societies.
