Abstract

The current research aimed to prepare and apply a program based on occupational therapy to improve sensorimotor performance and some adaptive behavior skills for children with moderate intellectual disabilities. The research sample consisted of (15) boys and girls whose ages ranged between (9-11) years, and the study sample belongs to a socioeconomic level (below average), and their scores on the sensory-motor performance scale indicate that they suffer from a severe delay in sensorimotor skills, and their scores on the adaptive behavior scale indicate that they suffer from a shortcoming in Adaptive behavior.

Tools of study:

- Measure of the socio-economic level of the family prepared by: (Abdul Aziz Al-Shakhass, 2013).

- Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale (fifth pictures) (prepared by / Mahmoud Abu El-Nil 2011)

- sensorimotor performance measure (prepared by Tahany Moneb – Basma Badr – Nada Gowaly )

- The Adaptive Behavior Scale (Prepared by: Abdulaziz Al-Shakhas, 1998)

-Occupational therapy program to improve sensorimotor performance and some adaptive behavior skills (prepared by: researcher)

Results of study: The results indicated the effectiveness of the occupational therapy program in improving sensory-motor performance and some adaptive behavior skills among children with moderate intellectual disabilities.
