Abstract

Wheat is one of the most important food crops in Egypt. To address the food gap, Egypt is seeking self-sufficiency in wheat production through horizontal expansion by increasing the cultivated area and vertical expansion by cultivating new varieties, especially in Sinai, where it has been found that the conditions are favorable for wheat cultivation in North Sinai. It contributes to wheat production, but in limited quantities, due to some factors affecting the crop, such as soil quality, water, fertilizers, wheat varieties, and labor, which requires the role of agricultural extension, raising its price, and supporting farmers. The study conducted on the community and sample of North Sinai farmers (Sahl Al-Tina) reached several results according to production requirements (land preparation for agriculture) for an area of one feddan for wheat cultivation during the production season. The average unit price in pounds for (division, leveling, establishing ridges, and the person performing the service) was (450.0), while for (weed removal), the average unit price in pounds was (420.0), and finally for (plowing), the average unit price in pounds was (335.0). Regarding production requirements (seed planting cost) for an area of one feddan for wheat cultivation during the production season, the sample responded that they use (planter), with an average quantity of (45-75) kilograms, and an average unit price of 15.00 pounds, with a total of (825.0).
