Abstract

In the present investigation, the effect of addition of multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and Al2O3 nanoparticles on the mechanical properties of epoxy was investigated. The results revealed that increasing the volume fraction of MWCNTs and Al2O3nanoparticles reduce the tensile strength and impact resistance, however, they increase microhardness of the nanocomposites. The pure epoxy exhibited higher tensile strength and impact resistance but lower microhardness when compared with epoxy/MWCNTs and epoxy/Al2O3 nanocomposites.
