Abstract

The objective of the current research is to explore the effect of e-discussion strategies on the development of Knowledge sharing skills and engagement into the conversations of the students of the Education Technology department. The strategies used were (setting up synchronous interactive sessions - instant responses to students' questions - using open-ended questions). The research used the experimental approach with the one-group experimental design where there is a comparison of the pre and post applications. Results of the research showed the existence of a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group in the pre and post applications of the knowledge sharing scale in favor of the post application, as well as the existence of a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group in the pre and post application of the scale of engaging in conversations in favor of the post application. The research recommended directing and training faculty members on strategies for organizing electronic discussions, because of their effective role in the success of discussions and achieving objectives. Faulty members are also advised to enhance the engaging of students in distance learning communities, including electronic discussions in order to attain the best benefit of these conversations.
