Abstract
Air transport in general enjoys the largest share of the volume of international transport traffic, and statistical studies indicate an upward trend in the number of passengers and air arrivals to Egypt, which gives an indication of their continuous increase in the coming years, and this requires work to raise the efficiency of the air transport sector in Egypt, and increase Its ability to face the challenges that surround it, the regional and international competitive situations, blocs, unions, and global developments, which requires a comprehensive knowledge of the nature of the performance of this sector in the light of the scientific method and the principles and standards that must be adopted, as well as reaching the problems it faces, and identifying the most important deviations if I found between the current situation and the target situation for the role it plays, so the research problem is the need to determine the extent of the economic use of the resources and capabilities available to the air transport sector in Egypt, and from the reality of the research problem, its objective is determined to provide an integrated picture of the performance of the air transport sector in Egypt. It can be used to advance it and maximize its positive aspects in terms of the extent of economic exploitation of the available capabilities and the competitive position of the sector. A, and also identifying the problems that limit its effectiveness and the obstacles that stand in the way of its growth in order to perform its correct role with a high degree of excellence, with which it can achieve the goals set for it and desired from behind it.
This, and it was found that despite the vital role that the air transport sector can play in Egypt as one of the main pillars supporting the national economy, it still suffers from some problems that affect the effectiveness and limit its launch towards the desired goals. In light of this, a set of recommendations can be presented that may contribute In rationalizing the performance of this sector on scientific and objective bases, the most important of which are the following:
1- Reorganizing the air transport market in Egypt by giving a greater role to private transport companies in a balanced and equal manner in favor of improving the competitive position of EgyptAir, which is reflected in the high level of efficiency of the sector as a whole.
2- Providing an effective internal work environment in EgyptAir, and this is done by designing and implementing a training plan for employees at all administrative levels
3- Adopting an integrated approach to human resource development by establishing a clear system of material and moral incentives and linking it directly to performance rates and levels.
4- Increasing attention to safety factors, whether related to the transport of goods in accordance with international standards and the various risks that surround this field.
5- Raising the level of quality of ground services, provided that they include the services of the passenger building, movement area, corridors, waiting areas, catering and maintenance services in light of established and accepted international standards so that the expected problems and challenges with the Arab Navigation and Land Company can be faced.
6- Looking at airports as an economic institution, and this is done by expanding the tasks of the Airport Corporation to include, in addition to operating, marketing and development of all services and facilities needed by airport pioneers using information and communication technology to link external and internal aviation networks, railways, land transport, freight services and others.
