Abstract

The main objective of this study is to know the respondents application level of
integrated pest management of tuta absoluta in tomato , determine the relationship < br />between respondents application level of integrated pest management of tuta absoluta
and some independent variables , determine the percentage of the contribution rate of
some independent variables to explain the variance in the dependent variable , finally the
Constraints related to application of integrated pest management of tuta absoluta in
tomato.
The research conduct in the largest three villages of the largest three districts
growing Tomato in El Minia governorate, during was selected sample farmers using the
equation Krejcie and Morgan reached 210 farmers which representing about 45,6% of
the population of tomato farmers which had reached about 460 farmers , respondents
were selected randomly from the tenure records of the agricultural cooperation organization in selected villages during 2014 , data were collected using a prepared
personal questionnaire during April 2015.
Simple correlation coefficient of Person, chi square, contingency coefficient,
multiple regression analysis (step–wise), Frequencies tables and percentages were used
to analyze data.
Findings could be summarized:
1 –
(92%) of respondents have average application levels of integrated pest management
of tuta absoluta.
2 – There was a significant relationship between respondents' application degree of
integrated pest management of tuta absoluta and each of following independent
variables: number of education years, size of land holding, full-time agricultural
work, degree of exposure to information sources, age and the geographical openness.
3 –Findings also reported that three variables had unique values in interpreting the
variance of dependent variable which were: number of education years, size of land
holding and age.
4 – The most important constraints facing the farmers were: lack of varieties of tomato
resistance to infection, lack of optical water fisheries, rising prices of pesticides, the
scarcity of private television programs with integrated pest management of tuta
absoluta, lack of knowledge of the parasite altricograma.
