Abstract

This study aimed to determine the attitude level of the farmers towards
rational use of chemical fertilizers, determine the relationship between the
total degree of attitude towards rational use of chemical fertilizers and the
studied independent variables, the problems facing respondents and their
suggestions to overcome them.
This research was conducted on 363 farmers who were selected randomly and
systematically, Morgan and Krejcie equation had been used to determine the
.sample size
Data were collected by using a questionnaire during august 2016,
Frequencies, percentages, were used to present and analysis study data, In
addition to simple correlation coefficient, and Chi test.
The main results are as follows:
1- Near than half of the farmers (44.9%) had a positive attitude towards
rational use of chemical fertilizers.
2- There was a significant relationship between the total degree of attitude
towards rational use of chemical fertilizers and following variables: number
of years of experience in agricultural work, awareness degree of damage of
using over dose of chemical fertilizers, attitude degree towards change,
exposure degree to information sources for rational use of fertilizers
chemical, availability of extension services regarding rational use of
fertilizers chemical, participation degree in extension activities regarding the
rational use of chemical fertilizers, and educational status of farmers.
3-The most important problems which facing farmers in the rational use of
chemical fertilizers: lake of knowledge of requirements of chemical
fertilizers which plants need, and lake of knowledge of how to make organic
fertilizers
4- Frames introduced some suggestions to overcome the mentioned problems
through: Provide alternatives of chemical fertilizers with suitable prices, and
increase the number of extension fields that used alternatives chemical
fertilizers.
