The aim of this study is to examine the levels, trends and differentials of methods of contraceptive use among currently married women, and to analyze the determinants of contraceptive use. The main data used in this study were from the Rwanda Demographic and Health Survey 2005 for analysis, but also the ones of 1992 and 2000 for comparison. The study uses the chi-square test to measure the association between the response variables (current use and intention to use contraceptive methods) and the predictor variables, while the logistic regression model is used to analyze the determinants of contraceptive use. The logistic regression results of likelihood of current use of contraception model show that women living in urban areas, those living in Northem province, those educated women, those whose husbands were educated, those who heard of family planning message on the radio and read about it in the newspaper, those who visited health facility last 12 months, those women and their husbands who approved of family planning use were the strongest predictors of current use of contraception in Rwanda.
