BRUCELLA AS A CAUSE OF BURSITIS IN DOMESTIC ANIMALS

Abstract

Examination of 180 animals suffering from different forms of bursitis revealed that 76 cases (42.2%) were due to brucella infec tion. From the affected cases 10 brucella strains were isolated. Only Brucella abortus biotypes 1, 3 and 6 were isolated from buffaloes cattle and equines. Brucella melitensis biotype 1 was recovered from a sheep suffering from capped knee.
