Abstract

The pectoralis major muscle of the domestic form of Columba livia revealed the presence of three types of muscle fibres, red, white and intermediate, while that of the wild form was made up of 2 distinct components of fibres, red and white. This morphological" c haracteristic seems to be correlated with flight ability. 1
