Abstract

The seasonal prevalence of the blood parasit es of the spiny mouse, Aoomys cahirinus was studied in Beni Swif Northern Upper Egypt. Dhe seasonal variations in trypanosoma-inted. fed rats were associated with parallel flact uations in the 11ea indices, probably inline aced by the prevailing olimatic conditions: Certain differences were also observed betwe. en the two sexes and between the immature and adult hosts. Further biological studies are recommended to explain such differences, Simultaneously, Haemobartonella was also det eoted all the year round. Other blood parasi tes such as Eperythrozoon, Hepatozoon, Anarl asme, and Sprochaeta were restrioted to cor tain seasons of the year. This denoted the Importance of a whole year study to determine the proper prevalence of certain blood par ago 1tes which may show themselves periodioally, 1.1kely based on the prevalence of the intern ediate hosts which are primarily affected wi th the climatic conditions.
