Abstract

Two hundreds and fifty one Escherichia coli isolates were recovered from broilers with clinical signs and lesions of colibacillosis in the West area of Algeria. Serotyping showed that 82% of the isolates belong to one of the serotypes O78, O2 and O1. Antibiograms revealed a high level of resistance to oxytetracycline, amoxicilline, ampicilline, and trimethoprim-sulfmethoxazole. However, only a low percentage of strains was resistant to enrofloxacine and muti was common.
