Some hematological and biochemical parameters were determined in blood specimens collected from clinically healthy Dorcas gazelles (Gazella dorcas) bred in captivity in large enclosed areas in Khartoum State, Sudan. The average levels for the hematological and biochemical parameters studied were as follows; the total white blood cells (TWBC) count was 10.09 ± 1.50x103/mm³, the red blood cells (TRBC) count was 11.7 ± 1.78x106/mm³, the total haemoglobin (Hb) concentration was 18.85 ± 1.10 g/dl, the packed cell volume (PCV) was 51.64 ± 3.2 %, the mean cell volume (MCV) was 5.1 ± 0.86 fl), the mean cell haemoglobin (MCH) was 16.5 ± 0.23 pg, the mean cell haemoglobin concentration (MCHC) was 36.68 ± 0.77 g/dl, the glucose level was 66.6 ± 20.0 mg/dl, the alanine aminotransferase (ALT) enzyme activity level was 50 ± 12.0 IU/l and the aspartate aminotransferase (AST) enzyme activity level was 372.4 ± 75.0 IU/l, the calcium level was 8.88 ± 0.26 mg/dl, the inorganic phosphorus level was 6.9 ± 0.50 mg/dl, the sodium level was 154 ± 5.1mmol/l, the potassium level was 4.98 ± 0.37 mmol/l, and the chloride level was 112.8 ± 2.70 mmol/l. These results were compared and discussed with the results of similar studies conducted on Gazella dorcas and other Gazella species elsewhere.
