تتناول هذه الدراسة قبيلة الهيرول Heruls الجرمانية في العصور الوسطى، والتي تنتمي إلى الشعوب الجرمانية الشرقية، وقد لعبت قبيلة الهيرول دورًا مهمًا في تاريخ أوروبا العصور الوسطى، نظرًا لما اتصف به أبناؤها من شراسة في القتال، وهو ما ظهر جليًا في حروب الإمبراطور جستنيان الأول (527-565م) ضد أعدائه، فكان منهم القادة والجند. وقد قسْمتُ الدراسة إلى عدة نقاط هي: مُسمى القبيلة وتوزيعها الجغرافي، ثم انتقلت للحديث عن دورها السياسي والعسكري من خلال مشاركتهم في الحروب مع جيرانهم، أو تحت إمرة الإمبراطور جستنيان الأول، وبعد ذلك تطرقت إلى الحياة الاجتماعية للقبيلة، وما هي عاداتهم وتقاليدهم، وبعد ذلك دلفت للحديث عن نظام الحكم والإدارة والجيش، ثم خاتمة بأهم نتائج الدراسة.
The Germanic Heruls tribe in the middle ages: a political and civilized study
Abstract: This study handles the tribe of Germanic Heruls in the Medieval that relates to the eastern German peoples. The Heruls tribe played an important role in the history of medieval Europe because of the characteristics of their sons and their fierce fighting this appears clearly in the wars of the emperor Justinian I (527-565 AD) against his enemies, so the leaders came amongst them. I've divided this study into many points; the tribe's identity, and its geographical distribution, and went on to talk about its political and military role through their participation in wars with their neighbors or under the rule of Justinian. After that   I moved on to the social life of the tribe; their customs, the regime, administration, and army.
