The research aimed to identify the characteristics of the fishermen in the villages of Lake Burullus, the most important problems they suffer from, the relationship of the respondents' characteristics to their opinion of the existence of problems, and their suggestions for solving these problems.
The research was conducted on 100 fishermen in one of the villages on Lake Burullus and the data were collected using a questionnaire, during the months of March and April 2022. Frequency, percentages, weighted average, and chi-square test were used to analyze the data statistically.
The most important results were as follows:
Nearly half of the respondents 47% of average age, 51% work as a fisherman on boats, 48% are illiterate, and three-fifths of them have worked in fishing for 20-34 years, most of them have decreased their income from fishing, and more than half 55% are members of the fishermen's association, and the same percentage Somewhat familiar with the laws of hunting.
- Problems related to financing ranked first, then problems related to fishing areas, problems with fishermen from other areas, problems with the fishermen's cooperative association, and problems with the local administration.
It was found that there is a significant relationship between the variables: age of respondents, position on the boat, educational level, total income from fishing, change in income from fishing, change in fishing volume, membership in the fishermen's association, knowledge of fishing laws, overfishing in the lake and the respondents' opinion on the existence of problems in total
