The distribution of water within the waterways network in its various degrees throughout the Republic and its arrival to the ends of the canals to irrigate agricultural lands is considered one of the priorities of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
Maximizing the hydraulic efficiency of the Bahr Youssef Canal from the Dairout Barrages to its end at the Lahun Barrages. The research problem is represented in the reduction of disposal behind the Dairout Barrages from 19 million m³/day to 15.50 m³/day as a result of the presence of bottlenecks, sediments, encroachments and dumping of waste and waste in a stream Canal from the start to the end.
The research aimed to evaluate the effects of maximizing the hydraulic efficiency of the Bahr Youssef Canal from the start behind the barrages of Dayrut in Asyut until its end at the Lahoun barrages in Fayoum.
The study reached results
The total cost was about    1.089.874.76   pounds.
Total revenue was about     56.477.080   pounds.
 Total agricultural production costs was about    1360713   pounds.            
The total revenue for agricultural production was about  1930715 pounds.

Net cash flows from agricultural production was about  5070002  pounds.
