Cinema is a vast world that depends on huge production designs that we see in films; some of these productions may be inspired by elements from history. Filmmakers are drawn to the artistic and architectural historical styles in creating new designs. They have used the Gothic style in designing the cinematic image since the beginning of cinema (silent cinema). The Gothic style was characterized by features, philosophy and atmosphere formed from the richness of the medieval era of myths and legends, thus opening a wide field of horror films characterized by darkness and mystery. Before the emergence of cinema, the eighteenth century marked a renewable interest in this style, in architecture and literature, the Gothic revival. It had an impact on the horrific cinematic works of the twentieth century since many early horror films were adaptations of Gothic novels. The Gothic horror films were associated with artistic movements such as the German Expressionism in the 1920s, while others appeared with the development of sound in the first cycle of horror films that emerged in Hollywood in the early thirties.
