Abstract

As a result of increasing the disaster risks in heritage areas and surrounding areas due to many external factors, whether natural or human or both, therefore, we lost many physical properties due to inefficient risk management and great pressure from surrounding random areas and urban sprawl on cultural heritage, so the research aims to shed light on the mechanisms of the contribution of cultural heritage to achieving sustainable development goals to attain safety for cultural heritage areas and their adjacent while clarifying how to integrate general risk management plan for the region with the risk management plan for cultural heritage to mitigate the multiple risks to which the region as a whole is exposed. The research followed the inductive approach to present the theoretical framework of the case, then the analytical method to analyze and present two case studies, to clarify how heritage contributes to achieving safety for a whole region. The research concludes that multiple mechanisms should be used to achieve effective security and sustainability for the region at the national level for our heritage and that is possible by adopting sustainable development goals.
