Abstract

In the beginning of its inception in the Arab countries, plastic art kept pace with the political, social, and cultural changes that in its entirety aspired to catch up with the civilizational development that had been achieved in the West since the Renaissance in the fifteenth century. When these countries were politically liberated in the fifties, this liberation was not accompanied by a comprehensive intellectual revolution, nor by a planned scientific vision, which was reflected in the formation of the Arab artistic personality and put it in a predicament in front of international artistic events. The relationship remained in crisis with the self and with the other, and the other here is that renewed and transformed variable in the wheel of the Western plastic movement. After centuries of closure, plastic arts were one of how Arab countries solicited to modernize their societies, and the first generations of Arab artists, whether in Egypt, Iraq or Yemen, began practicing the process of artistic creativity, guided by Western models.; Until they reached their own art inspired by the philosophy of their society, expressing the views of life and existence, as well as presenting some political ideas. The artworks came with plastic aesthetics in an integrated series with each other, as the Arab artist relied on a composite artwork that serves his idea in a contemporary oriental spirit.
