Line x Tester analysis economic traits in Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) under hightemperature of Al-Kharj, Saudi Arabia conditions

Abstract

The present investigation aimed to estimate general combining
ability (GCA) variances and their effects for different characters
in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) under heat stress at Al-
Kharj, Saudi Arabia conditions. Line × Tester analysis including
three lines and two testers illustrated the preponderance SCA
over GCA for all the studied characters in this investigation.
Based on the obtained data both Supermarmande and
Nagcarlang genotypes were good combiners for fruit set, yield
plant characters while Supermarmand and Super Strain B
genotypes were a good combiner for fruit weight. In addition to
Supermarmand genotype was a good combiner for characters
i.e., plant height, fruit diameter, number of locules, TSS and
number of branches/plant. While, Peto86 genotype show that a
good combiner for Flash Thickness trait. The crosses
(Nagcarlang x Castle Rock), (Superstrian B x Peto86) and
(Superstrian B x Castle Rock) was marked as the most
promising crosses for yield per plant character under heat stress
conditions.
