Abstract

Amorphous selenium containing different concentrations of sulphur
(0-5 at.%) has been prepared by quenching the melt in air. The compositional
dependence of density, hardness, specific heat, glass forming tendency as well
as crystallization enthalpy have been measured, and the correlation between
the obtained data and the chemical binding has been discussed. A cyclic
scanning technique has been used to investigate the thermally induced phase
during two consecutive heating-cooling cycles covering the temperature range
Tg-Tm. The activation energy of crystallization using non-isothermal technique
(DSC) has been determined and discussed.
