Abstract:
Objectives:Examine the potential role of survivin in head and neck lymphomas by exploring the level of its expression in different clinicopathologic parameters.
Methods:Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded tissue sections of 43 specimens of head and neck lymphoma were immunohistochemically analyzed forsurvivin expression using Avidin-Biotin complex (ABC) method
Results:Survivin was highly expressed in lymphomas with aggressive behavior while low to intermediate level of expression was demonstrated in lymphomas with indolent behavior. High significant differences (p <0.004) were found by
Conclusions:Survivin expression in head and neck lymphomas seems to be clinically relevant as it presents a tendency to be less expressed in indolent than aggressive tumors.
