Microorganismsare responsible for the progress and persistence of inflammatory response of pulpal and periapical tissues have been well recognized. Endodontic treatment success depends mainly on the removal of microbial contamination from infected root canal. On one hand, bacterial count can be decreased by mechanical instrumentation of root canals, but on the other handcomplete removal of microorganism cannot be obtained without the usingintra canal irrigants and medicaments. This review will talk about the commonly used root canal irrigants and medicaments and finding natural herbal substitutes for better effects without harmful effects.
