Abstract:
Objective:The purpose of this study is to evaluate attitudes of parents of two different socioeconomic levels towards different behavior management techniques (BMTs) used for dental treatment].
subjects and methods:270 parents who accompanied their children to the pediatric clinic at faculty of dentistry, Mansoura university (group A) in addition to 270 parents who accompanied their children to a high social club in Mansoura city (group B) participated in this study, they viewed videos of five BMTs and completed a questionnaire.
Results:Low-moderate social class of parents were significantly more accepting of the more invasive behavior management techniques than the high social class of parents. Tell-show-do was the most acceptable technique while hand over mouth was the least acceptable technique in both groups.
Conclusion: Social status seems to be an important factor in determining parental acceptance of behavior management techniques.
