Abstract:
Aim of study: To examine to correlation of MDD and chronic periodontitis.
Methods: 40 patients were randomly selected with age range from 30 to 60 years. 20 of them were depressed patients and the others were the control group. Periodontal examination was done using PPD, CAL, recession, BOP and PI.
Results: only PI and BI were significantly higher for group I than the control group. And there were no significant differences regarding PPD, CAL, recession.
Conclusion: MDD does not contribute to increasing the chronic periodontitis among the studied population. However, it is linked to increased bleeding on probing and the PI among the depressed patients.
