Objectives: To assess the level of knowledge, attitude, and practice of dentists in public and private dental clinics regarding infection control measures in Benghazi, Libya. Methods:This study was a cross-sectional survey which was conducted on 586 Libyan dentists, A self-administered questionnaire containing three parts (knowledge, attitude, and practice) was distributed to the participants, Questionnaire data was entered into a computer and analyzed by SPSS statistical software.  Results:The survey was completed by 500 dentists (203 from public and 297from private sector).The mean age of the respondents was 35±7.9 years. The mean and SD scores of knowledge, attitude, and practice towards infection control measures were 79.6±11.1, 99.4±1.1, and 78.5±10.7 respectively  for dentists work in public clinic, and 81.4±13.1,99.3±1.2and 80.4±13.7 for dentists from private clinics. Conclusions:This study showed that good knowledge of infection control measures were found among both public and private sectors,compliance to infection control practice was good among dental professionals and a positive attitude towards them was found.
