Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy versus Total abdominal hysterectomy in Obese Patients

Abstract

Background; Obesity is a health problem challenge in gynecologic operation. Laparoscopy has the possible benefits than abdominal hysterectomy of being faster, effective with low expected bleeding. Aim and objectives; was to make a comparison of the security, effectiveness and complications of laparoscopy hysterectomy and total abdomen hysterectomy in obesity cases.  Patients and Methods; This randomized controlled report was performed at the Obstetrics & Gynecology Dep., Benha University Hospitals, on 60 patients whom were allocated into 2 groups: (Group-I): 30 cases for total laparoscopic hysterectomy, (Group-II); 30 patients for trans-abdominal hysterectomy. Result: A highly significant change was found among the study groups regarding Haemorrhage , Fever, blood loss, Hb%, ileus duration and hospitalization. Conclusion: It is concluded that Patients managed by laparoscopic hysterectomy have significally lower incidence of blood loss, Hb% decline, ileus duration and hospitalization than patients managed by total abdominal hysterectomy.
