تُعدُّ الشواهد أحد أهم مکونات الصناعة المعجمية، وهي رکنٌ رئيسٌ في المعجمات المفهرَسة. ويُعدُّ «المعجم المفهرس لألفاظ الحديث النبوي» من أجلّ الأعمال العلمية التي أنجزها المستشرقون في القرن العشرين. ويهدف هذا البحث إلى دراسة قضايا الشواهد في ذلک المعجم دراسة نقدية في ضوء الأسس النظرية الحديثة للصناعة المعجمية؛ وهي ثلاث قضايا: إحداها: أسس الاستشهاد، وثانيتها: وظائف الشواهد، وثالثتها: خصائص الشواهد. وقد حاول البحث في إطار المنهج الوصفي- الإجابة عن مجموعة من الأسئلة أهمها: ما معايير اختيار المصادر التي جُمعت منها الشواهد؟ وما طبيعة المستويات اللغوية للشواهد؟ وما الوظائف التي حققتها الشواهد؟ وما کثافة الشواهد في المعجم، وما طريقة تنظيمها وترتيبها في المداخل؟ ومن أهم نتائج الدراسة تحديد ثلاثة معايير لاختيار مصادر المعجم، وتحديد المستويات اللغوية للشواهد التي لم تقف عند ألفاظ الحديث الشريف، وإنما شملت القرآن الکريم، والشعر، وکلام الصحابة والتابعين وغير المسلمين، وتحديد ثلاث وظائف للشواهد، وتقدير أعداد الشواهد في المعجم وفي کل مدخل، والکشف عن أسس ترتيب الشواهد في المعجم. Evidence is one of the most important components of lexicography, and it is a major component of concordances lexicography. Concordance et indices de la tradition musulmane is one of the scientific works accomplished by orientalists in the twentieth century. This research aims to study the issues of evidence in that concordance critically in the light of the modern theoretical foundations of lexicography. There are three issues: the first one is the foundations of elicitation, the second is the functions of evidence, and the third is the citations features.  The research attempted, within the framework of the descriptive approach, to answer a set of questions, the most important of which are: What are the criteria for selecting the sources from which the evidence was collected?  What is the nature of the linguistic variations of the evidence? What are the functions achieved by the citations? What is the density of the evidence, and how is it organized and arranged into the entries? Among the most important results of the study is the identification of three criteria for selecting the sources of the concordance, defining the linguistic variations of the evidence that did not stop at the words of the noble hadith, but included citations of the Holy Qur'an, poetry, the words of the Companions, followers and non-Muslims, defining three functions of the evidence, and estimating the number of evidence in the dictionary and in each entry.
